Luke 9 Jesus sends out the Twelve disciples

When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Luke 9: 1-2 sums up the process in which God directs us for the assignment/purpose he has on us. It is quite simple:

a) God will call you

It is exciting when God places a purpose in your hand. We need to be obedient when we are called and to trust the Lord.

b) He will equip you with supernatural power and authority

He will empower you ahead of the assignment. The process of the empowerment may not be a walk in the park. Your baptism of fire and discipline is to refine you for the challenge ahead. So, the storm in your life maybe the preparation of your heart, mind and spirit for the next step. The Lord will fill you up with spiritual gifts that will equip you for the assignment.

The key is to place your faith in Him without doubt. In 1 Peter 1:7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So, when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. Jesus calms the storm in Matthew 8:26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. Jesus walks on water Matthew 14:27-31 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

You bring to God what you have with all your heart and place it in his hands. He will multiply the little that you bring. Mark 12:41-43 The Widow’s Offering 41 Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 1 Kings 17:13-16 Elijah and the Widow at Zarephath 13 Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”

c) He will then send you

God will then send you when He knows you are ready. Resist the urge to send yourself to do something when the timing is not right. When God sends you, all you have to do is plant the seed, God does the watering. Romans 10:14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?
