The Tabernacle

Summary:

· The Tabernacle represents the tangible presence of God. ... It is important to note that the Tabernacle is also referred to as the Sanctuary, Tent of Meeting, Tent of Testimony and Dwelling Place.

· The three parts of the Tabernacle and its objects symbolize the three main parts of man and its functions. The Outer Court symbolizes the body, the Holy Place represents the soul and the Holy of Holies symbolizes the spirit.

· Holy of Holies - where only the high priest could enter, once a year on the Day of Atonement.

Moses, David and Yeshua – The Veil/Curtain

· Moses Tabernacle had a curtain/veil that divided the 2 sacred rooms of the Tabernacle, the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place.

· David’s Tabernacle (he made his own) had no veil and there was access to go directly to worship the Lord before the ark of the covenant

· Later on, Solomon built the temple. After the temple was completed, the priests transported the Ark of the Covenant from David’s tent into the Temple’s Holy of Holies. A lot had happened to the destruction and reconstruction of the temple over the years however, the Temple represented the Tabernacle and the veil once again separated the 2 sacred rooms.

When Yeshua said it is Finished at the cross, what happened to the veil? Matthew 27: 50 And when Yeshua had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

Atonement of Yeshua - Yeshua, as the high priest, brought His own blood as the sacrifice and by sprinkling it on the mercy seat (ark of the covenant) made it possible for us to return to the presence of God.

It is interesting that Moses Tabernacle represents the old covenant. The curtain/veil prevented access to the Holy of Holies/Most Holy Place. Note that only the High Priest could enter this area on the Day of Atonement. David’s Tabernacle has no veil and David would go directly to the Holy of Holies and worship God which represents the new covenant. When Yeshua died the veil in the temple was torn. The Most Holy Place is now accessible for you and me because Yeshua shed His blood (atonement) for us. He set us free from sin and made us a kingdom of priests for God the Father (new covenant).
